Stella McCartney’s Autumn and Winter 2023 collection revisits the brand’s roots, reinforcing iconic styles while adding contemporary details, cuts and pioneering materials.
The Autumn and Winter 2023 collection is composed of timeless designs for an ageless wardrobe. Stella McCartney has always been inspired by nature and this season, she emphasises her love for trees.
Sustainability has been a core value of the brand since its inception. For this collection, 94% of the ready-to-wear pieces are made from conscious materials – it is Stella McCartney’s most nature-positive collection to date.
One of the materials used is a forest-friendly viscose, a versatile fabric Stella has developed with exclusive weaves and finishes. This innovative textile is made using traceable FSCcertified wood pulp from sustainably managed forests – as part of the brand’s zerodeforestation commitment. Abstracted tree-bark jacquards are rendered in shiny black double weave fil coupé lurex on forest-friendly viscose dresses and separates. Tree bark is also expressed across oversized, woodgrain belted Teddy coats and jumpers crafted from a cruelty-free wool blend.
Another inspiration comes from the designer’s grandmother’s wardrobe, deconstructing classic pieces and styling vintage elements in modern ways such as boxy, cropped jackets with frayed hems, wide-legged trousers, asymmetric skirts and square-necked dresses. Pearls have been embroidered onto black tailoring and eye-catching prints.
The accessories edit focuses on Stella’s most iconic creations, with the Frayme bag returning in mixed-material recycled vegan python and studded styles – all handcrafted in Italy from vegan materials. The Falabella is revisited in textural grey tweed and Fur Free Fur, while the S-Wave is seen in python and padded, studded versions.
The footwear collection includes heels in pointed pumps, pearl-embellished transparent stiletto editions and stretch ankle and over-the-knee boots in vegan python. A casual energy progresses in block-soled Skyla boots and wedges with chain details alongside Fur Free Fur slides.
