TREASURES OF NATURE

Pomellato have unveiled a distinctive capsule collection comprising one-of-a-kind scarab rings in powerful gemstone combinations.

Italian luxury jeweller Pomellato revealed a unique collection: Scarabeo di Pomellato. It includes a set of 31 luxurious rings, each in the shape of a scarab beetle. Crafted by highly skilled artisans, these rings are carved from a variety of hardstones and gemstones. The collection offers a glimpse into the intriguing world of coloured gems and reveals breathtaking examples of unusual minerals of compelling attraction. The capsule is a tribute to Mother Nature’s evocative and artistic power and the fabulous mineral wealth that continues to inspire Pomellato’s creativity.

With the rings hand carved from a one-off mineral section, each one features unique patterns and traits. Subtle, unusual and exquisitely refined, Scarabeo di Pomellato perfectly embodies the Milanese concept of luxury.

Over the centuries, the scarab has been treasured as an amulet symbol of rebirth and defence. It has had a presence in the history of jewellery and Pomellato’s archives reveal designs of scarab jewels, including a 1977 gold pendant and a bracelet from 1988. Today, the scarab finds new life in the brand’s boldly colourful interpretations of this age-old representation of renewal.

Evoking the house’s iconic and voluptuous cabochon cocktail rings in vibrant colours, the scarab rings have curvaceous shapes with soft corners and generous volumes. The rings are not a precise reproduction of the beetle but a stylised interpretation and elements, such as the insects’ legs, are transformed into precious jewellery details.

Each ring is a window into the wondrous world of gemstones as the design team took great care in choosing the position of the bands of colour, inclusions and the special effects characteristic of each gem variety. The names of the jewels evoke the mood each one conjures up. The Green Magic Carpet ring features mysterious glossy green malachite enhanced with vivid emeralds. The glistening mirage of colours created by labradorite and diamonds reflects the aquatic world of the Water Lily Secret piece. The mesmerising pattern of grey and white rutilated quartz reveals the complexity of its structure in the Crystal Maze ring. While the sky-blue tanzanite with clouds of white and a pavé of the same stone gives Beyond the Horizon its name. For the Oasis of Calm, a sense of peace is created with nephrite jade reminiscent of sunlight streaming through palm fronds and combined with the flash of deep red spinels.

Timeless yet uncompromisingly contemporary, the enigmatic Scarabeo di Pomellato is a precious amulet reinterpreted with originality and joie de vivre. The new rings will appeal to those looking for awe-inspiring and unexpected new forms of beauty or for curious collectors on a quest to discover rare marvels of nature.
