When Time Turns

Decades on from its sporting debut, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso returns with new stories to tell.

For over nine decades, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso has embodied the harmony of design and engineering. Originally created in 1931 to endure the knocks of polo matches, its clever swivelling case became an instant classic. What began as a practical solution has since become a blank canvas for extraordinary creativity, and the 2025 lineup proves just how far that spirit can go. Among the latest releases this year, these four standout pieces capture the very best of craftsmanship and artistry that the Reverso collection has to offer.

REVERSO ONE ‘PRECIOUS COLOURS’

A playful interpretation of the Art Deco spirit, the Reverso One ‘Precious Colours’ is a visual delight with only 10 limited pieces available. The reverse side of the 18-carat white gold case is hand-painted with a mosaic-like pattern in soft tones of mauve, grey, pink and yellow, where each colour is fired layer by layer in enamel, a delicate process that takes 60 hours. Surrounding the case are 277 diamonds, bringing sparkle to every angle. On the front, a white mother-of-pearl dial is framed with diamonds. The watch is completed with a white alligator strap and interchangeable double folding buckle.

REVERSO ONE ‘PRECIOUS FLOWERS’ – PURPLE ARUMS

Inspired by nature, the Purple Arums model brings flowers to life in enamel, diamonds and a manual wound calibre 846. Shades of purple, pink and green bloom across the back of the 18-carat pink gold case, created using a technique where each part of the design is filled with enamel and carefully fired in a kiln. Once complete, the entire floral design is brought to life with over 600 diamonds, set individually to create a shimmering surface that sparkles like dew on petals. With over 120 hours of focussed artistry, the piece is completed with a glossy purple alligator strap and the mother-of-pearl on the dial side.

REVERSO HYBRIS ARTISTICA CALIBRE 179

For those fascinated by mechanics and beauty in equal measure, the Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 is captivating. This rare creation features a spinning tourbillon (a small, rotating mechanism designed to improve timekeeping precision) that appears to float in mid-air. The front and back of the case are decorated in deep blue lacquer with geometric patterns inspired by Reverso’s original Art Deco style. The watch displays two time zones, one on each face, making it both highly functional and incredibly refined. With its blue alligator strap and complex inner workings, this is a piece for true connoisseurs.

REVERSO TRIBUTE MONOFACE SMALL SECONDS

For something more understated, the Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds offers a clean, vintage-inspired look. Made from 18-carat warm pink gold, it features a golden textured dial and a Milanese-style woven bracelet crafted from gold thread that is soft, flexible and beautifully intricate. The design harks back to the original Reverso of the 1930s, with a small seconds display and slim case that sits perfectly on the wrist. Made with a hand-wound Calibre 822, it’s a classic timepiece that comprises over 100 components and a 42 hour reserve.
