It’s no secret that Dessange Bahrain is the place to go for the best of beauty, but beauty that gives back? Even better. Here, join OHLALA as we head to the spa-salon hybrid to learn more about its Think Pink initiative.
Think back to your last manicure or full-body massage – and how you felt right after. As women, we are often our last priority, making those few moments of ‘me time’ that much more precious. After all, beauty treatments are not just about looking good – they’re about feeling great.
It’s no wonder we return to Dessange Bahrain time and time again. Somewhere between its workout classes, pampering packages, and friendly faces, it has come to personify the little time we take for ourselves. This time around, we’re walking in for a manicure, pedicure, and hydrating hair treatment. And because the month of October translates to the annual Think Pink initiative, we’re delighted to indulge in a little beauty that gives back. For the uninitiated: Dessange dedicates its services every October to fighting breast cancer and supporting non-profit organisation Bahrain Cancer Society.
As a result, the salon turns into a veritable pink paradise – think: pink decorations, neon-pink lighting that comes alive at night, and even pink protein balls if you’re feeling peckish after a workout. Thirsty? There’s a rather aptly named Pink Panther Juice over at the juice bar.
But what really appeals to us are all the tangible ways for us to lend a helping hand. Certain studio classes on the schedule are marked with a little pink ribbon, indicating that all proceeds will be donated to charity. Likewise, 20 percent of the revenue derived from the sale of 111Skin’s Rose Gold products will be donated. And would October even be complete without our digits showcasing our support? Hint: no.
To that end, all proceeds from nail art with the aforementioned ribbon will also be donated to the Bahrain Cancer Society – and of course it’s pink nails we’re opting for! We treat ourselves to a CND Shellac manicure and pedicure, complete with a soft-pink polish. After the cuticles have been pushed back and the nails have been shaped, it’s time for one of the technicians to prepare the nail surface, which entails of a base coat and placing your hands under a CND (UV) lamp. Next comes two layers of pink polish and, lastly, a layer of topcoat, with the CND lamp sealing in everything. No wonder a CND Shellac manicure will last for two weeks – or longer.
Our beauty voyage comes to a close with a little love for our tresses, courtesy of the creamy Illipe Butter Mask for nutrition of dry lengths and a comforting clay and essential oils mask for the scalp, both by Phytodess. With 98 percent natural oils and ingredients, this particular treatment leaves the hair incredibly soft and shiny – just as we like it. Once again, we leave with perfect hair, perfect nails and a warm, fuzzy feeling that lingers, knowing we played our part in Dessange’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer. Join us?
