BMW HAVE LAUNCHED AN OUTSTANDING MODEL IN THE NEW BMW X6 M
The masterminds at BMW have always pushed the envelope with each and every new model they produce. The brand’s third generation, high-performance Sports Activity Coupés (SACs) are a testament to their superior design capabilities. We at Ohlala were delighted to receive the opportunity to inspect and test drive the new BMW X6 M, compliments of the great team at Euro Motors.
At first glance the X6 M exudes supreme authority. It is the type of vehicle that looks in charge wherever it is driven. This latest edition has a more muscular overall appearance than its predecessors, as well as a more prominent backend design. Marginally longer and wider than the outgoing model, this latest version houses an extended wheelbase and sits closer to the ground. The powerful looking front-end features a unique apron design and newly shaped kidney grille. Large air vents are in place to accommodate all of the necessary cooling this large vehicle may require. The exterior design flows effortlessly from the front into the sides, where protruding wheel arches emphasise the model’s wide track. This adds to the X6 M’s sports car like presence. Impressive 21-inch wheels contribute to the vehicle’s imposing stature, whilst additional air breather elements hint at this BMW’s on-road capabilities. The rearend finishes off the exterior design in style, complete with its Gurney spoiler and M Sport exhaust system, featuring the signature dual, double tailpipes.
The beautifully designed, extravagant exterior is complemented by the luxurious ambience of the interior. As soon as we slipped into the generously sized, variableusage cabin, we felt as though we had been upgraded to first class. Only top-of-the-line materials, trims and finishes are to be found in the X6 M, with a level of premium craftsmanship that emphasises both quality and luxury. Not only are the M multifunction seats amazingly comfortable, and supportive, they offer a raised seating position that gives one a commanding view of the road. The M specific, high-performance design concept is present throughout this vehicle, highlighted by the Setup Button on the centre console that enables direct access to the engine, damper, steering, M xDrive and braking systems. The exclusive selection of equipment fitted as standard includes the 12.3- inch fully digital gauge cluster with large BMW HeadUp Display & M-specific readouts, BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Parking Assistant and so much more. In the back, three children passengers can sit comfortably whilst the cargo area offers 27 cubic feet of storage space.

Thoroughly impressed with both the exterior and interior of this beautiful machine, we were most excited to get it out onto the tarmac to see what it had to offer performance wise. As soon as we engaged the ignition, the sound of the 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology roared to life, instantly bringing a smile to all faces present. As we turned onto the road and applied pressure to the accelerator, we could feel the ample power of the high-revving engine. This V8 can produce 460 kW/625 hp and 750 Nm of torque. This allows the X6 M to launch from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds! That’s 0.4 seconds faster than the outgoing model. The engine works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission that feeds a dynamic all-wheel-drive system. When power is distributed to all four wheels, traction is maximised resulting in superior handling and control. The various drive modes can be selected via buttons located on the steering wheel which allow one to optimise the vehicle’s performance in various conditions. We found the handling and integrated braking system of the X6 M to be of a superior standard and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day driving around in this mechanical work of art.
