During Fashion Week there’s no rest for the wicked. Not even on Sunday. But we took what a typically laissez-faire Sunday should be in our stride and started off with an indulgent breakfast of champions. When it comes to Paris, there’s no portion control! The pile up of croissants could give a boulangerie a run for its money..!
After a suitably drawn out start to the day it was all about experiencing this city’s streets and magic before the Roland Mouret show – you could crane your neck forever looking up at the beautiful buildings.
Luckily for us, the journey to the Roland Mouret show was a blister-free, fly-by three minute walk from the hotel. As the decadent (what seemed to be) banquet hall of the Chambre de Commerce st D’industrie filled up, the commotion hushed to a dead silence and the journey into the AW16 began. From the streets of Chelsea to Paris’ Saint-Germaine des Pres, the collection marries dark Victoriana with the fierceness of the Art Rock scene – the music definitely highlighted this inspiration.
You can expect velvet detailing, hexagonal lace embroidery with seductive, translucent tulle blouses. Accessories sees a splendour of lace-up knee high boots in deep hued suede and bags adorned in palatial snakeskin.
The evening saw us at a very chic cocktail in honour of Bouguessa’s AW16 collection. The abaya and Arabian heritage inspired brand marries tradition with style. The simple elegance of each piece has an air of minimalism but is very true to the Arabian culture. The precision of each piece, be it the Tow Tone Graphic Crepe Abaya, the Velvet Tuxedo Abaya or the Crepe Cut-Out Collar Top, Bouguessa is the go-to for integrated fashion.
