The Australian-American movie star drew gasps from the uber-cool audience as she made a surprise appearance walking at Balenciaga’s Paris Couture Week show.
With country music legend husband Keith Urban cheering her on amongst the stars in the front row, the Oscar winner’s performance was pure theatre as she strutted the catwalk in a one-shouldered silver gown, gathered at the waist and trailing a long train, accessorised with black opera gloves and black heels.
The shoes, in fact, have come in for criticism with some in the fashion world blaming them for Kidman’s somewhat unusual gate – but who knows, this could simply have been a device to aid a performance guaranteed to garner both attention and applause.
Whatever the reason, there’s no doubt that with her strawberry locks falling in classic waves and her pale complexion boosted by Balenciaga’s current signature, razor-sharp black eyeliner flicks, the Hollywood veteran stole the show.
The supporting cast, if you like, included Kim Kardashian, singer Dua Lipa and Christine Quinn of Selling Sunset, alongside supers including Naomi Campbell and Bella Hadid – each in the head-turning outfits you would expect from the ever-playful, avant-garde house.
