LABYRINTH OF LUXURY

Although we’ve been staying home for what feels like forever, we couldn’t help but let our minds drift back to our previously pampered selves at MOI BELLA Beauty Lounge in the heart of Riffa.

I’m a busy bee at the best of times. Always have been, always will be. It’s something I’ve been working on over the years, and the current lockdown situation hasn’t helped which had me reminiscing hard about my pamper session at Moi Bella Beauty Lounge from a couple of months

ago. Sometimes, you just need to take time to switch off and chill out, something I’m not great at doing. Something I had considered trying a few times, is escaping and treating myself to a little bit of a pamper. There’s something unique about going to a spa away from home and that’s why I was so excited when I first visited Moi Bella Beauty Lounge.

The unassuming entrance and the traditional heritage style architecture brilliantly conceals the delights which lie within Moi Bella Beauty Lounge. After you utilise their valet service you are exposed to an abundance of luxuriant, tranquil, ornate spaces waiting to be discovered. The most unique and thoroughly overwhelming aspect of Moi Bella would have to be the abundance of lobby and treatment areas which are all individual and exquisitely styled in this ladies-only paradise. The main lobby with marble floors and elegant illumination is accessed through huge carved wooden doors. This creates such a sense of grandeur and pays homage to the original use of the space – which was the owner’s former childhood home! The high ceilings are a complimentary fixture to the ongoing vivid colour scheme and opulent choice of fabrics throughout its illustrious interiors. There is a traditional aesthetic with intricate patterns running throughout all of its elements, but in a minimalistic capacity. Further highlights include the tessellated lighting around the archways and the subdued glow created throughout. Chandeliers and orbs crafted from glass provide a further fusion of ancient and modern elements.

On arrival I was handed a glass of detox water (always a promising start) and given a little tour. The first thing I noticed was this place is a labyrinth of luxury – I wasn’t expecting so many treatment rooms! The place was so welcoming and was an oasis of tranquility. Soothing music was piped out and all the rooms were dimly lit with a variety of relaxing components. Plus the scent of all lemongrass in the air really added to the comforting atmosphere. After my tour, which also included showcasing their beautiful nail section, a little princess pampering area and a separate hair salon I was told about some of the treatments that they offer, including bespoke treatments for people of determination as well as wheelchair access. They really do have something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a makeover or just a little (or a lot of !) pampering. They offer a wide array of facials and skin treatments suited to your skin type, including specialist signature treatments. Not to forget, their expansive gym, outdoor pool and fitness studios.

After my consultation with their senior therapist I decided to select some of their signature treatments; a candle massage, scrub and a Cleopatra Bath should surely do the trick. After all, I deserved to be pampered, as do all of you! Eager to get some stress busted, I changed into my fluffy robe and disposable underwear ready for the commencement of my relaxation journey. Prior to my initial treatment my therapist cleansed my feet as part of a welcoming foot ritual in their main lounge area. This area filters in an incredible amount of natural light with earthly elements of foliage and stones further amplifying the serenity of this experience.

As I then made my way to my treatment room I was allocated the Opal treatment room – each room is named after a gemstone here. No stone is left unturned when it comes to Moi Bella’s attention -to-detail. As I lay face down I allowed the sensual scent of ylang-ylang and its powerful relaxation properties to envelop me. Massage is recommended to soothe nervous tension, stress and sleeplessness. It is even said that the intriguing scent helps sharpen the senses, soothes anger, jealousy and even fear. As I drifted away I couldn’t help but be impressed by the uniquely soothing and relaxing benefits of this warm candle massage. When lit the candles provided an intoxicating aroma that melted into a warm sumptuous massage oil. The warm oils were then drizzled over the skin and massaged with deep relaxing strokes to melt away tension and delicately nourished my skin. This made for an unparalleled holistic effect.

Next up, on my pampering agenda was my body scrub that took place in their hammam area. It’s important to exfoliate before the Cleopatra Bath to allow the beneficial properties of the milk and essential oils to effectively penetrate your skin. The product used for exfoliation highly depends on your own skin type and preference, however I decided on the cherry and almond infusion which further elongated the sensorial elements of my prior treatment with an elevated aromatic aroma. During the scrub my therapist gently directed me, lifting my arms and legs as necessary to really get into those areas I frankly was unaware required exfoliating

this was thorough, but not intrusive in the slightest. After this, I tottered away to shower off and got dressed in a doughy daze before moving to their incredible Cleopatra Bath. I implore you all to try this particular treatment as I couldn’t help but delve into the luxurious level of ingredients

and feel at peace. My skin was severely dehydrated prior to these treatments and I had fallen guilty of a dull tone, but not any more! I came out glowing both inside-and-out as the experience is so relaxing with the products and the expertise of their staff providing exemplary services are truly amazing. Unassuming luxury that suits every mode and manner of guest. The relaxation zone is the perfect final touch as I was served tea and biscuits whilst sinking into the lounge chair, which hugged me as if I was on cloud nine. Well I was, but it’s situated in Riffa!
