HEAVEN SENT

Neighbouring a chic shopping destination is The Westin City Centre Bahrain, a hotel that boasts so much more than a prestigious address. Ohlala checks in to check it out.

As our car is whisked away by valet, we enter The Westin City Centre Bahrain and are impressed at first sight. The interior is both sumptuous and modern, with lavish crushedvelvet fabrics adorning cushions and an array of meticulously crafted furniture. Throughout the hotel, different levels and styles of illumination create an air of extravagance in the entertaining spaces, and tranquillity and intimacy in the lounges. The décor is a clever blend of polished woods, tiles, panelling, and ornate chandeliers, coming together to create a sense of luxurious escapism.

We are welcomed with a little safety kit (complete with masks, gloves, and a hand sanitiser) to start our staycation experience in safety. As we sashay into the Executive Room, a platter of treats presented to us reflects the attention to detail enjoyed by every guest – that’s our sweet tooth adequately satisfied! The in-room amenities at this property ensure that no two stays are alike. Instead, they’re customised to indulge the cravings, styles, and eccentricities of guests from check-in to check-out. Generously designed, our room features modern furnishings, rich textures, and subtle hues, with a warm colour scheme and understated decorative accents setting the tone.

The highlight of any visit to The Westin is the Heavenly Bed, which has a reputation that truly precedes it, but there’s plenty more that awaits. The ambient lighting, crisp tiled edges in the plush bathroom, and thoughtfully selected amenities from the signature White Tea range are all designed to create a sense of mindfulness and bodhi. We, however, have our sights set on the newly reopened pool terrace. Here, comfortable sofas and feel good music make for such a relaxing ambience at the sun deck that we forget we’re in the vicinity of a shopping mall. Even the jacuzzi is an experience in itself.

As we emerge from a state of slumber, the excitement continues as we order room service for dinner – and what a meal it is. Thin, perfectly cured slices of meat topped with tomatoes and greens make the Beef Bresaola a sound choice, while the Tom Yum Soup is one of the best we’ve had in a while – there’s no skimping on prawns here. The seafood mixed grill, meanwhile, was a smoky and tender affair that we couldn’t get enough of. Owing to The Westin’s philosophy of food synergy, the menus here are packed with eat well menu that create vitality and well-being, pairing certain foods together to increase their health-enhancing properties.

The hotel services and ethos also extend to business clientele, courtesy of the state-of-the-art meeting and function rooms. Whether it’s a board meeting or large catered event on the agenda, the team is able to offer the same bespoke service as they would in any other area of the hotel and can guarantee ‘clutter-free’ meetings with cutting-edge audio-visual support.

As life slowly returns to normal and starts to speed up again, each of us will inevitably face stresses and strains that call for a place to escape and reboot – and The Westin City Centre Bahrain won’t disappoint. As for the quality of our sleep in that aforementioned bed? Heavenly, of course!
