Floret Essence

Camellia was Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite flower, and this has inspired the brand to use it as the main ingredient in the new collection – N° 1 de CHANEL.

The name of this new collection is a nod to the iconic N° 5 de CHANEL, which was launched in 1921. The distinctive red camellia has unique skin regenerative properties that power the N° 1 de CHANEL’s collection of nine products, including skincare, make-up and a fragrance mist.

Chosen for its microclimate and its fertile and balanced soil, CHANEL designated Gaujacq (in the South-West of France) as the place to establish its camellia fields and its research laboratory. In the hands of renowned and committed experts, CHANEL develops customised technologies to analyse, extract, filter and concentrate plant molecules. This concentration of nutritive and beneficial molecules is transformed into an oil that has been incorporated in the formula of this beauty line. Absorbed by the skin, these molecules will help reinforce skin defences and slow down dehydration to strengthen the vitality of the epidermis while keeping a youthful look. Naturally rich in antioxidants, it also helps protect the complexion from the consequences of stress and helps improve skin quality.

The skincare collection is composed of: Red Camellia Revitalizing Serum that prevents and corrects the appearance of the five signs of ageing; Red Camellia Revitalizing Cream, which smooths and plumps the eye area; Red Camellia Revitalizing Eye Cream to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness; Red Camellia Powder-To-Foam Cleanser that cleanses, purifies and illuminates; Red Camellia Revitalizing Lotion that energises, refines and plumps the complexion; and Red Camellia Revitalising Serum-In-Mist that counters pollution, refreshes and boosts radiance. The make-up line brings the Red Camellia Revitalizing Foundation and Red Camellia Revitalizing Lip and Cheek Balm. To complete the collection, the N°1 de CHANEL – L’EAU ROUGE, a revitalising fragrance mist.

N°1 de CHANEL has been created with a sustainability mindset. Organic inks have been introduced, wrapping and paper leaflets removed, and 80% of the containers in the collection are made of recycled glass. At the same time, the formulas themselves are made from predominantly natural ingredients. Even the camellia seed shells were used to create the lids of the glass jars. An exciting launch for all beauty and nature lovers out there.
