Tory Burch’s spring and summer collection toys with the sports universe, showcasing playful and stylish silhouettes.

Tory Burch welcomes the hot season with styles that highlight elements of sport that are twisted and reinterpreted to emanate a sense of freedom and escape, with a touch of glamour. Swimsuits are embroidered with sequins; belts and ties boast influences from martial arts jackets; and colour-blocking, an athleisure trademark, can be spotted on sweaters. Hints of sensuality can be observed in draping and cascading chiffon skirts and cotton V-neck tops.
The collection displays an interesting mix of materials that alternate between comfy, sumptuous and quirky. Quilted cotton, waffle knits, stretch wool gauze paired with hand-twisted sequins, crystal beading and featherweight suede compose the sporty cuts. An abstract jacquard evokes swimmers and waves, while a classic-looking toile de Jouy (a type of calico motif with floral, figure or landscape designs placed on a light background) reveals aliens hidden in flora and fauna patterns.

The accessories bring bags and shoes with new concepts. The Pierced collection evolves with an oval handbag in soft unlined leather with a single oversized ring. The Balloon shoulder bag comes with a distorted T Monogram and glossy textures. For the evening, the Eleanor box bag is covered in metal or comes as a velvet pouch embellished with a floor-sweeping silk fringe. The ballet slipper inspires the shoes’ base, including the Twisted pump and Reva ballet. The Reva was launched in 2006, and this season’s updates include cut-outs, a bevelled coin and a new mule silhouette.
Still on the add-ons side of the collection, metal chandelier earrings are formed in the shape of a cartoony alien or octopus for a touch of humour. Sunglasses wrap around the face and many looks are styled with slim belts and leather amulets.
“The synchronicity of movement and form. This collection began with the essence of sport: power and grace, precision and freedom.” – Tory Burch
