Elevating Aesthetic Wellness In Bahrain

This month, OHLALA spoke to Sija Kurian, CEO of LIVA Skin and Sculpt Clinic, about her wellness space and the aesthetic scene in the Kingdom.

OHLALA – You have a background in international business. How did you choose to work with beauty? What do you like most about this universe?
Sija Kurian –
While my academic background is in international business, I’ve always been drawn to industries where creativity, innovation and personal impact intersect. The beauty and wellness sector fascinated me because it’s not just about products or services – it’s about empowering people to feel confident and embrace their best selves. What I love most about this universe is that it’s the perfect amalgamation of art and science. Every treatment at LIVA Skin and Sculpt Clinic blends advanced technology with personalised, human expertise. I enjoy being part of a journey that transforms not just appearances but also confidence and self-esteem. Combining my business expertise with this creative, transformative field has allowed me to innovate while making a tangible, positive difference in people’s lives.

OHLALA – Tell us more about LIVA Skin and Sculp Clinic. What is the concept and mission behind it?
Sija –
Established in 2024, LIVA Skin and Sculpt Clinic was created to redefine luxury in aesthetics and wellness in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Located in the heart of Manama, we bring together a handpicked team of world-class doctors, cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art equipment to deliver the most advanced, bespoke therapies and transformative personalised treatments. We are committed to introducing new concepts and pioneering approaches in this field in the country – continually raising the standards of innovation, safety and excellence. Our mission is to enhance natural beauty through science, artistry and compassion, ensuring every client’s experience is rooted in care, confidence and well-being.

OHLALA – What are the main treatments the clinic offers? Can you highlight some of them?
Sija –
At LIVA, the world of aesthetics meets cutting-edge innovation. The clinic offers a curated blend of non-surgical and surgical treatments designed to rejuvenate the face, body and hair with precision and artistry. On the non-surgical front, LIVA offers Botox, fillers, a wide range of skin boosters for all skin types and concerns, whitening peptides, biostimulators, custom fat-melting injections, anti-cellulite solutions, exosomes, PRP and medical-grade chemical peels. But what truly elevates the experience is the clinic’s investment in next-generation technology such as Hydrafacial MD; 360-degree skin analysis camera; ResurFX a non-ablative fractional laser; Nanopore microneedling, a Swiss-engineered device that boosts collagen production and refines texture; Splendour X laser hair removal; and, for redcarpet radiance, Morpheus8, the celebrity-favourite treatment that combines radiofrequency with microneedling to sculpt, tighten and make skin look more youthful. On the surgical side, LIVA offers a refined portfolio of plastic surgery procedures, including liposuction, tummy tucks, breast lifts, augmentation, reconstruction, facelifts and more – each performed with an emphasis on safety, harmony and natural-looking results. Most recently, the clinic unveiled its minor operations theatre, tailored for swift, minimally invasive enhancements such as blepharoplasty, fat grafting and chin liposuction. These procedures can be done without general anaesthesia or hospital admission, offering a cost-effective experience with minimal downtime – perfect for the modern patient who values efficiency without compromising on excellence.

“When women feel good about themselves, it truly changes the way they experience life.”
– Sija Kurian

OHLALA – Feeling good and attractive is very important for self-esteem. How do you see the role of aesthetic treatments in helping women feel better about themselves?
Sija –
When women feel good about themselves, it truly changes the way they experience life. Aesthetic treatments can be a meaningful way to support that, as long as they are approached thoughtfully and ethically. At LIVA, we focus on enhancing natural beauty, making clients feel confident and cared for, thereby strengthening self-esteem and overall well-being.

OHLALA – What would be your advice for those looking for cosmetic solutions for the first time?
Sija –
Trying cosmetic treatments for the first time can feel overwhelming, so my advice is to take the time to understand your goals and priorities. It’s essential to approach them with realistic expectations and not mindlessly follow trends. Start with education and consultation with trusted clinics. It’s also important to remember that cosmetic therapies, much like fitness, require consistency. You may not see full results after a single session. To achieve and maintain the best outcome, you need to complete the recommended treatment plan – similar to how you wouldn’t expect a gym transformation after just one workout. Commitment to the process is key.

OHLALA – In your opinion, what is the key to achieving success in this business?
Sija –
Success in the beauty and wellness industry comes from a thoughtful blend of passion, integrity and innovative learning. It’s never just about offering treatments – it’s about building trust, truly understanding your clients’ needs and delivering personalised care with consistency and excellence. Staying ahead with the latest technologies, techniques and global knowledge ensures that your services remain effective, relevant and future-focused.

OHLALA – How do you see the beauty field, more specifically, the cosmetic scene in Bahrain?
Sija –
I see the aesthetic and wellness landscape in Bahrain at an exciting inflexion point. Demand is rising rapidly and non-invasive treatments – such as skin boosters, biostimulators and advanced resurfacing and rejuvenation procedures – are becoming increasingly mainstream. People are far more informed today, and there’s a growing willingness to invest in long-term wellness rather than temporary fixes. At the same time, the market faces challenges. Unfortunately, some providers cut corners by using diluted or lower-quality products or opting for cheaper alternatives to reduce costs, which creates unhealthy pricing competition and confusion among patients. They often compare costs without realising that premium-quality, fullquantity and genuine products naturally come at a higher, but justified, price. At LIVA, when patients pay for a treatment, they receive the full benefit: the best-quality products on the market, full dosages and expert care. In essence, they get true value for their money, not a compromised version of a treatment.
