A MAGIC TOUCH

Ohlala’s Layal El Mahmoud waved goodbye to 2019 and hello to some much needed pampering with her partner at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa.

Sometimes you just need to take time to switch off and chill out, to escape and treat yourself with a dose of luxury. My partner and I have enjoyed spa treatments before, but when we visited the Gulf Spa at the respected Gulf Hotel, we knew it was going to be unique.

The Gulf Spa is self-proclaimed as ‘three floors of pure bliss and ultimate luxury where each detail has been meticulously taken care of to guarantee a memorable and unique experience’, and we cannot help but to agree.

As we walked into the reception area we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and a glass of refreshing detox water was handed to us. A quick check of our booking and a consultation form to register our personal details before our lovely therapist showed up to escort us to the famous couple’s room on the first floor.

The place is an oasis of tranquility. Soothing music was piped out and all the rooms were dimly lit and projected a relaxing aura, and that beautiful scent in the air really added to the comforting atmosphere.

The door opens to a Jacuzzi romantically decorated with rose petals and candles situated in the middle of the room which immediately set the mood for a magical experience. Two therapy beds were positioned to the left of the spacious oasis. To the right hand side of the door, a relaxing area equipped with two long chairs and a dresser lay. This was noted as we sank into these at the end of our treatment where we further unwound and enjoyed a therapeutic cup of hot lemon tea with honey, alongside a plate of nutritious healthy cookies.

In the other part of this spacious room – which is the largest of its kind on the island – a Tropical Shower, a sauna room, a toilet, an ice fountain and steam room with a collection of three different scents: refreshing icy peppermint, dreamy lavender, and aromatic orange. To enjoy these in-room facilities, make sure that you allow yourself time to spare in addition to your treatment (at least an hour), as it is so much fun, yet, it retains a relaxing but romantic aura. Perfect for reigniting that courtship bond!

As we drank in the facilities it’s important to add that we had been given the privacy to strip out of our clothes and slip into our complimentary fluffy dressing gowns, then, after a quick welcoming foot ritual, we were treat to an award-winning Natura Bisse aromatic massage and facial untying our knots from head-to-toe with a 15 minute introduction to the newcomer ‘Sound Therapy’ which makes uses of tibetian bowls. Wow, I believe my chakra was certainly calmed into the ultimate state of zen after such a tranquil experience! My partner said he would come back for an hour of that alone; a sound massage with Tibetan singing bowls placed on your body in certain positions then played to align with your body’s rhythm. This massage leads to deep relaxation and regenerates the body. Amazing!

All I can say is, their therapists have magic hands; not only when massaging away all of your stress and tension, but also when applying their regenerating anti-ageing facial too. Well, it is no surprise as Natura Bisse products are renowned for their advantageous properties and the brand trains their therapists to master the power of touch, applying expert techniques massaging with their hands, facial contour exercises and sculpting rituals that induce relaxation, energy flow and ultimate well-being.

One hour of lotions and potions, toners and creams later our skin looked instantaneously years younger, just like that. In fact, we were so impressed with the couple’s treatment at The Gulf Spa that we’ve already promised to return for Valentine’s Day, although it’s important to note that this will make a fabulous gift for any occasion!
