INTRODUCING CARTIER’S COLLECTION CLASH DE CARTIER. JEWELLERY THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY CHAMPIONS AND REBELS AGAINST CLASSIC FORMS, THAT BALANCES A SERIOUS SPIRIT WITH ORIGINAL CHARM.
Cartier has long been known for its iconic Love bracelets and Trinity rings, both staples in women’s jewellery closets all over the world for their glamour and elegance. In today’s world, however, we celebrate not only the graceful and sophisticated side of femininity, but also the ambitious and adventurous sides and so much more. With that in mind, Cartier has decided to shake things up by breaking down the Maison’s aesthetic heritage, and reimagining it into an all-new collection of jewellery that simultaneously champions classic forms and clean design, imbued with an energetic and unconventional spirit
Titled Clash de Cartier, the collection includes necklaces, bracelets and rings, all featuring a mash-up of architectural design elements — including studs, beads and clous carrés — taken from some of Cartier’s most signature creations. Crafted from 18K pink gold, each piece of the collection comes with a proportion that draws on pure Cartier style, while its details such as the volumes and reliefs, the circles and the squares, are all a tribute to the Maison’s penchant for geometry that dates back all the way to the 1930s. The result? A design that is neoclassical, whimsical, bright and pulsating. Look closer, and you’ll find that the conventional architecture of shapes has been broken down, and put back together to create the most unexpected effects.
The interconnecting studs, for example, look like they are all held in place, but can actually be moved to create a subtle motion that entices light to flit and flicker, while at the same time, giving the metal a contrasting sense of softness. The buff-top domed cloud carrés, meanwhile, are enchanted with a bright polish resulting from a series of meticulous operations. And lastly, to offer that final touch of sophistication that every Cartier creation carries, the insides of all pieces have been delicately scalloped for comfortable wear. To highlight the duality of this collection, Cartier has tapped English-Brazilian actress, Kaya Scodelario, to star in its campaign. “What we love about Kaya is the meeting of two cultures: a Latin American raised in England,” says Arnaud Carrez, International Marketing and Communications Director at Cartier International.
“Kaya cultivates two facets of the same energy in a stylish balancing act, a creative duel between serious and quirky. Like the Clash de Cartier collection, the actress combines the aristocratic codes with a touch of irreverence and elegance.”
